Mercedes-Benz Releases More Details, Photos of 2013 G63 and G65 AMG

Today, Mercedes-Benz released photos and a bit more info on the high-powered AMG versions of the 2013 G-class, the G63 and G65. In the U.S.—gets AMG’s new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8, which is good for 544 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. Those output figures represent increases of 44 hp and 44 lb-ft of torque over the 2011 G55’s supercharged 5.4-liter V-8. The G65 won’t make it to the U.S., which saddens us considering it’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 that makes 604 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

Both AMG’d Gs get a new front bumper with three large cutouts for cooling, as well as a new grille. A brush guard will be standard on U.S.-market G63s, and the rugged piece should help owners thwart even the nastiest mall parking lot. Additionally, the AMG pair receives new brakes with red-painted calipers that peek out from behind new 20-inch wheels. Like the non-AMG G550, the G63 and G65 also get a massively upgraded interior, LED daytime running lights, and some more standard equipment. The 2013 G63 AMG hits U.S. dealerships in August, and Mercedes will announce pricing closer to the truck’s on-sale date.
